SEOI 2026: IEEE ISPA 2026 Special Session on Scalable Earth Observation Intelligence

With the rapid development of satellite, airborne, UAV, and ground-based sensing technologies, Earth observation (EO) is producing data at unprecedented scale, diversity, and complexity. At the same time, advances in foundation models and large-scale artificial intelligence are transforming how remote sensing and geospatial information are analyzed and interpreted. These developments are driving growing demands for efficient, scalable, and reliable computing capabilities to support large-scale EO data processing and intelligent analysis.
Scalable Earth observation intelligence seeks to address the computational and system-level challenges of large-scale EO applications by integrating advanced intelligent methods with scalable computing infrastructures. This integration enables efficient processing of massive geospatial data, supports large-scale model training and inference, and facilitates secure and reliable collaboration across distributed platforms. These capabilities provide an essential foundation for trustworthy and scalable EO intelligence across diverse application scenarios.
This special session is now soliciting relevant research findings from a wide range of researchers and looks forward to your active contributions!

We invite submissions from academia, government and industry that present novel research on the topics as following areas:

  • Parallel and Distributed Processing of Large-Scale Earth Observation Data
  • High-Performance and Heterogeneous Computing for Earth Observation
  • Distributed Storage, Indexing, and Retrieval of Massive Geospatial Data
  • Space-Air-Ground-Edge-Cloud Collaborative Computing for Earth Observation
  • Onboard and Edge Intelligence for Resource-Constrained Earth Observation Platforms
  • Scheduling and Resource Management for Earth Observation Computing Systems
  • Trustworthy Data Sharing, Provenance, and Model Integrity in Decentralized Earth Observation Systems
  • Foundation Models for Earth Observation and Geospatial Intelligence
  • Distributed Training and Optimization of Earth Observation Foundation Models
  • Scalable Inference and Deployment of Large-Scale Earth Observation Models
  • Federated and Decentralized Learning for Distributed Earth Observation Systems
  • Multimodal Fusion and Cross-Modal Alignment for Earth Observation Data
  • Large-Scale Self-Supervised Learning for Earth Observation
  • Generative AI and World Models for Earth Observation
  • Performance Benchmarking and Scalability Analysis of Earth Observation Computing Systems
  • Scalable Intelligent Applications and Services for Earth Observation
